Plans for Bridge in St. Cloud, MN

The State Highway 23 bridge across the Mississippi River in St. Cloud, MN has been shut down due to aging gusset plates. The failure of such plates caused the Minneapolis bridge collapse in August 2007.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is considering repairing the bridge temporarily, but may not do so because the bridge is already scheduled for replacement in 2015.
