A good article about the struggle against La Parota dam has been published by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. While emphasizing and giving due credit to campesino resistance, the article also suggests, interestingly, that part of the reason the Mexican government has refrained from using military force is fear that the Zapatista (EZLN) and the Popular Revolutionary Army would respond with armed retaliation. It also says the legality of the dam may end up being decided by the Supreme Court.
