I-69 Update: Home Demos, Newsletter, Action Calendar!
May 28th, 2008
The fight against the I-69 NAFTA Superhighway is still heating up!
On the night of Monday, May 19, the River City Animal Defense League protested at the houses of two men involved in the construction of I-69. The first protest targeted the house of a Gohmann Asphalt and Construction contractor Michael J Gohmann, at 7305 Smith Creek Road, Lanesville, IN 47136. The second took place at the house of Gohmann executive John R Gohmann, at 4036 Woodstone Drive, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119. The protesters vowed to return until Gohmann ends its involvement in I-69.
Roadblock Earth First! has also announced plans for X-69: a month of action, with different affinity groups each pledging to shut down construction for one day. Affinity groups sign up for a day between one and 30, but the starting date will not be announced until it’s time to swinginto action. Contact Roadblock EF! for more info and sign up today!
The group has also announced publication of the first issue of its (approximately) biweekly newsletter, Roadblock Report. You should be able to find free copies in Bloomington and Evansville, or read it online as a PDF. Assistance is needed with “formatting, writing articles, researching, getting pictures, giving back rubs, etc.” Contact roadblockreport

Remember that a treesit against construction is still going, and that there are lots of ways to help stop this road! If you live in the East or Midwest US, you can also help organize a “Destroy I-69 Speaking Tour” - contact roadblockef
