CAFTA Lawsuit Filed to Force El Salvador Mine
Dec 22nd, 2008
The Canadian company Pacific Rim Mining Corp. has filed a lawsuit under the provisions of the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), seeking to force the government of El Salvador to approve its extraction permit for the proposed El Dorado gold and silver mine. The company alleges that the government is, according to CAFTA, abridging the “rights” of a foreign investor by denying it a permit to operate.
